My art is organic as watercolors blend and ask for a certain form to the lines that create shape. Watercolor is a found love that relates to my gardens. Within the joy and intricate detail of a
butterfly or bird or flower, I find the inspiration and guide for my paintings.
Katie lived almost forty years in the desert Southwest of Arizona, Colorado, and New
Mexico before moving to the Upcountry of South Carolina. During those years, she lived
on or near Navajo Country, learning the ways of nature and its importance through every step of life. From the Red mesas rising from the desert floor to the skies so Blue that clouds cut through them, to the shimmering Yellow Aspen leaves shining from the mountainside in Fall, Katie found a deep
appreciation of color. Now, the gentle Carolina mountains are working their magic and she is finding joy exploring and creating in her new home.
