Artists Collective | Spartanburg will present “Garden of Tranquility: Let the Beauty of Nature Calm Your Soul,” an exhibition of original floral paintings by Diane McAndrew, from July 28 – Aug 22, 2026, in Gallery II.
A reception will be held during ArtWalk on Aug 20.
With vibrant acrylic paintings inspired by flowers, gardens, butterflies, trees, and the restorative rhythm of nature, McAndrew invites visitors to step into a peaceful visual sanctuary. “Garden of Tranquility” is designed to offer a pause from the noise and demands of everyday life, encouraging guests to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with beauty, stillness, and emotional well-being.
“For me, painting flowers is more than capturing their beauty,” McAndrew says. “It is a way of expressing the calm, renewal, and joy that nature brings into our lives.”
The exhibition reflects McAndrew’s love of the natural world, especially the quiet moments she experiences while sitting outdoors, watching clouds move through the sky, feeling the breeze, and observing the plants, trees, flowers, and butterflies around her. Through soft, flowing compositions and expressive use of color, her paintings create an atmosphere of welcome and peace.
McAndrew hopes visitors feel as though they have entered a garden sanctuary filled with beauty, light, and gentle inspiration.
“My greatest hope is that each person leaves the exhibition feeling lighter than when they arrived,” she says. “Whether they discover a moment of calm, a cherished memory, renewed inspiration, or simply a sense of joy, I want visitors to carry that feeling with them long after they leave the gallery.”
McAndrew is an artist living in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. Born in New Jersey, she has been drawing and painting throughout her life and became a full-time artist in 2018. Her passion for art was sparked at an early age by her father’s talents in fabric design, painting, and photography. Although primarily self-taught, she has continued to take art lessons and explore new methods, styles, and media throughout her artistic journey.
Her work often blends abstract forms with the natural world, reflecting her love of floral beauty and her fascination with the interaction of colors. She works in a variety of styles, including abstract fluid art, expressive landscapes, and portraiture. In recent years, she also has begun pairing her paintings with poetry, including collaborations with her mother, who was a gifted writer.
“For me, creating a painting is pure joy,” McAndrew says. “Whether I’m moving fluid acrylics across a canvas or carefully layering oil paints, I find endless inspiration in the movement and energy of the natural world.”
McAndrew’s artwork is often described as soft, flowy, and beautiful. While “Garden of Tranquility” focuses on acrylic floral paintings, it is characteristic of her broader artistic practice, which also includes landscapes and portraits in oil. Her abstract acrylic work allows her to relax, let go, and explore color freely while still working with intention, composition, and design.
Works in the exhibition will be priced from $50 to $2,000.
McAndrew has previously exhibited in a solo show at Coldwell Banker Caine in Spartanburg and in the 2024 Juried Show at Artists Collective | Spartanburg, where her oil painting “Copper Kettle” was shown. She has been a member of Artists Collective | Spartanburg for one year and says she is excited for the opportunity to share her work with the Spartanburg community.
“The Artists Collective | Spartanburg offers artists of all types a place to share their work and learn from other artists,” McAndrew says. “I find it inspiring to walk around once a week and just look at all the wonderful art inside the Collective. So much talent there! I am so happy to be a part of this amazing organization.”
At its heart, “Garden of Tranquility” is an invitation to step away from the pace of daily life and experience the calming presence of nature through art.
“We all need a place to unwind and get away from all the noise,” McAndrew says. “And so, I believe, we should find the time to let the beauty of nature calm our soul.”
