This workshop is for those 18 years or older.

Join accomplished clay sculptor Sally Y. Weber for a hands-on exploration of bas relief sculpture, where drawing and clay come together in a dynamic and tactile process. In this workshop, participants will learn how to transform a simple ball of clay into a workable slab, using foundational throwing and forming techniques.

From there, Sally will guide you through the process of drawing directly onto the clay surface and carving into it to create bas relief designs. Emphasis will be placed on developing depth, texture, and composition, as well as understanding how these carved surfaces can be used as molds for future work.

Whether you are new to clay or looking to expand your sculptural skills, this workshop offers a practical and inspiring introduction to relief carving with applications that extend beyond a single piece.

The 10 in round clay slabs and plastic will be supplied.
Tools you need to bring:

Smooth wooden tools
A ball stylus

This is the most fun to make something from nothing!
