Upstate artist Pat Edwards will share his embossed Prismacolor images focused on various spiritual groups and churches in his exhibition, “Sacred Space, Signs and Symbols,” Feb. 3 through 28 in Gallery II of the Artists Collective | Spartanburg.
An artist’s reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, as part of Spartanburg ArtWalk. The reception and exhibition viewing are free and open to the public.
“Using my unique embossed Prismacolor technique in art images with poetic words, I will explore the signs and symbols of different spiritual groups in this region,” says Edwards, a member of the Artists Collective. “In addition, I will share images of various natural spiritual spaces in Upstate South Carolina and in North Carolina.”
He continues, “The message many people share during the months of November through January is ‘happy holidays,’ but many think of only one or two faiths that celebrate during this period. In fact, dozens of faith communities celebrate holidays during this time. The exhibit will highlight the range of such celebrations.”
Edwards says he wants visitors to gain “an appreciation for the range and breath of spirituality” from the nearly 30 pieces to be exhibited.
