The Glow Show

Something magical happens when you step into the darkness. At the Artists Collective | Spartanburg, ordinary paintings transform into glowing visions under the mysterious glow of black light in the upcoming exhibition “The Glow Show: Creating with Light” March 3 through 28 in Gallery III.

“The exhibition invites visitors to experience art in a whole new way,” says Sally Y. Weber, who is the coordinator for the show and is one of the 16 participating artists. “This year’s theme, ‘Illumination,’ features artists whose works come alive in UV light, revealing hidden colors and radiant energy invisible to the naked eye.”

An artist’s reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, as part of Spartanburg ArtWalk. The reception and exhibition viewing are free and open to the public. The 25 pieces in the show will be offered for purchase with prices ranging from $50 to $500.

“We are innovators and creators,” says Weber, who was inspired to paint glow works after her son gave her glow-in-the-dark paints. “Painting with glow paints gives us an opportunity to explore this exciting different medium. Our message is giving positive hope for the future.”

Weber continues: “When you enter the UV-lit room, the artwork transforms before your eyes. It’s a magical experience that appeals to all ages. Enter a darkened room where paintings pulse with luminescent life. Each piece glows with its own inner light, creating an immersive experience that feels like stepping into another world. From abstract dreams to glowing landscapes, every artwork shares the same enchanting radiance.”

The group is excited to be working together “to make a magical show,” she adds. “It’s always a thrill for me to see what the others create.”

Participating in the exhibit are Ryland All, Gayle Caregnato, Robyn Crawford, Diane McAndrew, Craig Denesha, Becky Dodrill, Marcy Fedalei, Gary Turpin, Thomas Koenig, Janis McElligott, Lady Pluuto, Brandi Tucker, Jim Weber, Sally Weber, Nancy Williamson and Patty Wright.

Weber, a member of the Artists Collective | Spartanburg, says it’s “a wonderful place to grow into your art.”
